Mary Elizabeth Reynolds was born July 4, 1850 and passed to her reward Dec. 19, 1922, age 72 years, 5 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to Thomas Newton Shepherd July 19, 1868, who preceded her in death about 4 years ago. To this union was born one daughter, Lorinda Jane Herrod of Terre Haute. She joined the union Baptist Church on Feb. 11, 1874 and was baptized later. She united with the Missionary Baptist Church at Waveland and was ever a loyal active member. She was devoted to her Church and was always present when her health permitted. She is survived by one daughter and an adopted son, Cecil, on whom she devoted a mother's care and guidance, one brother, Lewis Reynolds of Browns Valley, three grandchildren and a number of friends and relatives. Her sickness was of short duration but she endured it all without a murmur. No one who ever knew her can ever forget her calm sweet face which possessed that rare charity in an unusual degree. She thought no ill of anyone and no harsh words escaped her lips. Ever gratified for the blessings she enjoyed and was ever ready to be submissive to Gods will and never losing her faith and trust in her Savior. "Brighter and brighter shone th elight unto a perfect day." kbz
